- The AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) is a unified tool to manage your AWS services. With just one tool to download and configure, you can control multiple AWS services from the command line and automate them through scripts. The AWS CLI v2 offers several new features including improved installers, new configuration options such as AWS Single.
- On Linux or macOS, you can use the bundled installer to install version 1 of the AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI). The bundled installer includes all dependencies and can be used offline. The bundled installer doesn't support installing to paths that contain spaces.
I have used Homebrew to install AWS CLI and I am quite happy with the result. Simply type: $ brew install awscli after you have installed brew. Note, on the AWS CLI installation page there is the following disclaimer. The awscli package may be available in repositories for other package managers such as APT, yum and Homebrew, but it is not guaranteed to be the latest version.

The AWS CLI is an open source tool built on top of the AWS SDK for Python that provides commands for interacting with AWS services.

aws-shell is a command-line shell program that provides convenience and productivity features to help both new and advanced users of the AWS Command Line Interface. Key features include the following.

New file commands make it easy to manage your Amazon S3 objects. Using familiar syntax, you can view the contents of your S3 buckets in a directory-based listing.
You can perform recursive uploads and downloads of multiple files in a single folder-level command. The AWS CLI will run these transfers in parallel for increased performance.
A sync command makes it easy to synchronize the contents of a local folder with a copy in an S3 bucket.
